Lookout Entertainment Director Andrew Putschoegl and Producer Dan Bernard on upcoming feature film project!

August 21, 2012

Real-life Hollywood BFFs, Andrea Grano and Tara Karsian, who have worked in indie film and guest starredin numerous television series such as 24, CSI, The Mentalist and Bones, have launched an Indiegogo campaign to produce their original screenplay, BFFs, which is also set to star Australian actress, Sigrid Thornton.

Written by Grano and Karsian, the ensemble comedy tells of two best friends, Kat and Samantha (played by the creators), who decide to pose as lovers in order to use a gift certificate for a couples weekend retreat. However, over the weekend, the lines between lover and friend begin to blur...

Thornton – who was most recently seen in the local feature Face To Face and has never felt the need to “crack” Hollywood – is set to play Jacqueline, who, along with her husband Bob, runs the retreat.

The film will also star Carrie Preston (True Blood and The Good Wife), and will be directed by Andrew Putschoegl, coming off his critically-acclaimed Slamdance short, Hello Caller.

Grano and Karsian originally brainstormed the idea as a short, but as they forged ahead in writing, it grew into a feature. With the recent success of female-centric comedies like Bridesmaids and the HBO hit series, Girls, Grano and Karsian believe they could have a hit on their hands.

“We’ve been in the industry over 30 combined years. Well, mainly Tara... I’m much younger!” Grano observed. “We knew we could do this.”

Karsian adds, “I knew I could do it, at least. She’s riding my more experienced and talented coattails as per usual.”

The IndieGoGo campaign runs through to September 2, and the pair promise that if they raise $1 million over their $45,000 goal, they’ll keep the ten-minute nude scene.
